Easter Eggs

We dyed Easter eggs, and Carissa and Gabe both did a great job this year. They were both very careful with the eggs. And, Gabe completely surprised us when he tried to write his name on his egg and actually wrote real letters. He has been writing symbols and talking about letters and numbers for a long time, but he has never written any real letters before. Here is the second video of the process of making Easter eggs including when Gabe wrote on his egg.

Moustaches

Ben had a really bad migraine, so the kids and I ended up needing to drive him to and from the doctors office. He needed to get a shot, and whether or not you think you can drive after the shot the doctors office wants someone to drive you. So, after Ben's appointment was over the doctor gave the kids tokens to get prizes from the machines on our way out. Something that the kids are starting to expect when leaving the doctors office. This time there was something new in the machines, it was fake moustaches and that was what Carissa and Gabe wanted. I helped them get their moustaches on and they thought that they looked pretty funny.

Dress up

Lately when the Carissa and Gabe play dress up, Carissa asks to have her pictures taken. Then Gabe wants pictures too, and Carissa likes to pose for the pictures.

First non-family sleep over

A friend of mine that I used to work with had been talking to me (and the kids) for a while about having Carissa and Gabe have a sleep over at her house and giving me the night off. It was very nice and thoughtful of her. And, my kids are crazy about her and her boyfriend. So, they came and picked up the kids on Friday night, and then Ben and I picked the kids up at about 2 pm on Saturday. Carissa and Gabe said that they had a good time, but evidently were so worn out from all the fun that they crashed in the car on the drive home. Oh, and Ben and I got to enjoy going out to a movie on Friday night, and then sleeping in on Sat. It was very nice.

Zoo

We used the extra free time that I had over my spring break to take the kids to the zoo. We all had a nice time at the zoo. We packed a lunch, and brought our brand new wagon for the kids to ride in. I finally sold both of our strollers earlier in the year, and then we got a wagon. This time we actually got to go on the train ride while there. In the past, it was either closed or we just didn't get that far.

Gymnastics Rountines

I didn't get as many videos of Gabe because he chose not to do some of the routines because he didn't feel well. By the time we got home he had a pretty good fever, so I don't blame him at all for not doing everything, but that is why I have more videos of Carissa.

Catch up

So, there were some things that I wanted to post on here but I didn't end up getting a chance when they happened. So, starting a little before Valentines day Ben got sick, then I got sick, then Carissa, and then Gabe. In all, we were sick for a few weeks, I even had a fever for almost a week and half (that is really unusual). Everyone being is sick on of the reasons that I didn't get to blogging.

We ended up going out to eat at a Japanese restaurant Tepanyaki with my family, which is the first time we had ever been there. It was a lot of fun and the food was really good too. They cook all of your food at your table and when they start they light a fire at your table. When the fire lit up Gabe almost flipped over backwards he was so scared and wanted to get away from the fire. (It was really funny to watch Gabe though.) Good part was that it was over really fast and I got him to calm down and relax again. Both of the kids ate pretty well and tried new foods too. Gabe tried pretty much everything that was offered to him. And when we sat down to look at the menus Gabe saw a picture of sushi and said that was what he wanted. So, we ordered a sampling of sushi so that Gabe could try some and he tried all of them and liked them too. Ben likes sushi, so I figured that Ben would at least eat if we ordered it. But, I was really impressed that Gabe wanted sushi and ate it and liked. I still haven't tried sushi yet, but I love the Gabe is willing to try almost anything.

Then towards the end of the month, Carissa and Gabe had their gymnastics performance. The kids got to perform routines for their parents/grandparents and other family members. As it would turn out, both of the kids were getting sick by the gymnastics performance started. I really debated making them stay home, but they had really been looking forward to it, and as it turned out neither of them was sick enough to tell them that they had to stay home. So, they got to do their gymnastics with Grandma, and Mom watching them. And, at the end they each got a gymnastics ribbon.
